ROLLS-ROYCE SPECTRE

Judging Questions

Perhaps no marque is as ideally suited to an all-electric future, given the reputation for near-silent interiors where “at 60 mph, the loudest noise in a Rolls-Royce is the electric clock.” The Spectre is the first in a series of EVs from the marque, which will phase gasoline-powered models out of the lineup by 2030. Built on the same platform as the Phantom and Cullinan, the aluminum architecture is ideal for adaptation to a dual-motor powertrain (one BMW motor front and rear) and a phalanx of batteries whose performance is on par with the massive V12 engine of its stablemates. The fastback coupé is the most aerodynamic Roller ever made, but reverse opening doors in the tradition of Phantom, Wraith and Dawn, carry on a tradition that is notably quirky but ultimately inimitable.
