ASTON MARTIN DB12 COUPE

Judging Questions

The DB12 succeeds the seven-year-old DB11, and while the signature styling is pure Aston Martin, 80 percent of the design is all new. Fresh bodywork, an uprated chassis and suspension modernize this GT—which Aston calls a “Super Tourer”—with up-to-date technology not just under the hood but inside the cockpit. The heart of the DB12 is its front mid-mounted V8 engine, driving the rear wheels through a rear-mounted ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The compact V8 engine, sourced from Mercedes-AMG, develops 671 bhp and is tuned to deliver 34 percent greater output than the DB11’s. The luxurious cabin claims to offer 2+2 seating, but realistically, it’s a two-seat GT.
